The problem is the hypocritical nature of gamers saying they want something, but then, go against the very thing they asked for. Or, don’t actually put their money where their mouth is.
“But but but Sony, all we asked for was online games as good as your single player games.”
Yeah. We make fun of Xbox fans because they were groomed into not buying games and using game pass. But PlayStation fans, who say they just want old school FPS games like Killzone or Resistance, didn’t show up at the cash register. Sales of both games dropped off. Shadow Fall wasn’t a higher seller either. Or, you complained that the games didn’t play like COD, so they changed them accordingly, and then you complained of the changes.
Sony themselves, who strive on supporting or creating new IPs, did just that. They put out TLofU, Spider-Man,, Horizon, changed GOW, released Days Gone, put out the amazing Ghost of Tsushima, etc and got sales. But, now you turn on those games and say stop giving us these games or making better versions of them on NEW hardware for NEW fans. Or, “it’s a woman instead as lead. We just wanted more Jin Sakai.” Sometimes, you need to just shut up and let the developers develop.
Even now, we see the hypocrisy. ” We don’t want live service games.” Then, turn around and buys 20 million of Hell Divers 2. Support without question GT7 live service online requirements. Can’t have it both ways as you trashed Concord before release. Didn’t even give the game a chance to find it’s own fans. “We didn’t want it.” Who’s we? Who let you decide what gets a chance and what doesn’t before release?
Gamers asked relentlessly for what developers like Naughty Dog were cooking. And they finally get to see it. A sci-fi game that yeah, is a not Savage Star Light. But is sci-fi, a new IP from the top developer who has proven they can make great games again and again. Have great stories and great animation. “But but but, she’s bald and doesn’t have skimpy clothes like Stellar Blade. She doesn’t have hair.” Haven’t seen any gameplay but trashing it already pushing that it’s DEI bullshit that the right use against things. How about letting them tell their stories and create the games as you know they can and keep quiet.
Lastly, Astrobot has gotten great reviews. Single player heaven right? How come it’s only sold less than 2 million from 60 something million PS5 consoles sold? But you love single player right? Gathering awards left and right. Where are you at the cash register?
