The only thing worse than being bald is being bald and then being balder than you ever thought possible. A lot of the time, when we hear someone with a bald head, we say, “you’re lucky.” The truth is that you’re not, and that you’re just as unlucky as the bald-head we’re talking about.
This is the story of the ingrown hair cyst, the strange, unexplained growth that can occur on the scalp. The cyst is a benign growth that looks like a patch of hair on the scalp. It is almost always harmless, but it can cause problems if the hair follicles are irritated or if hair is stripped off the scalp. The cyst usually grows on the scalp as a result of infection, but sometimes it can appear in other areas of the body.
One of the oddest things about the cyst is that it often grows on the back of the scalp. One doctor explained it as “a very small patch of hair that grows on the back of the scalp and then grows out, but when it grows out, it grows back into the hair”.
Many people have it and it’s usually due to something that occurs in the body, such as some infection or a trauma. The most common cause is when a person’s hair follicles become irritated or when a follicle that is normally hair becomes hair. These follicles can grow hair that’s not part of the scalp.
A study of 554 women using Fraxel found that more than 35% of women with ingrown hair had a problem that was causing it. The study also shows that this condition usually starts during adolescence or the time of full growth of the hair. But the most common way to get it is through the traumatic incident or when stress is not enough to make the follicle grow hair.
A study from the University of Maryland showed that the most common cause was stress. Stressful events like a divorce and hospitalization caused the majority of cases. In just 15 percent of cases it was the result of a traumatic incident. Another study from the University of Chicago shows that stress causes 30 percent of cases.
Although stress is the most common cause, you can also get it through a traumatic event. For example, if you were in a car accident and have broken bones, blood clots, a collapsed lung, or some other traumatic event, then your hair may start to grow.
A common response to stress is to go bald. Well, we don’t believe that. In fact, we believe that hair growth is an adaptation to stress. We are a hairless species because our ancestors were constantly in danger.
Although hair loss is a common response to stress, it’s not entirely a bad thing. People who are bald are usually happy with it, and it can help them deal with stress more easily. Many studies show that bald people are more productive and less prone to depression.
If you find yourself in a situation where you don’t have a hair (hanging, sitting, etc.) that makes it difficult to get it out, you may want to consider this: If you have a hair, you may think about getting some clothes. It’s hard to find clothes when you feel like it.
