La roche posay is the new name for a brand of handcrafted chocolates from the La roche (or la roche de chocolat) estate. La roche posay is made from a small amount of sugar, milk, and cocoa butter. The chocolates come in three flavours: chocolate, coffee, and cream. They’re often sold in boxes of 100 in the US.
A week ago we had a look at the new ‘La roche posay’ handcrafted chocolates and their story. We were told that the chocolates were made in the former factory in the French city of Crete. Their unique shape is created by pressing a small amount of cocoa butter and sugar in an oven and then flattening it out to make it more rectangular. The result is a soft chocolaty shape that is more like a heart.
The chocolates are shaped like a heart because a lot of the recipes include chocolate-covered cakes, chocolates, or other confections. The French have a knack for creating beautiful shapes but there’s one thing La roche posay says they don’t have, a heart shape chocolate. The reason is because they didn’t want to pay the high costs of making the chocolate themselves. The company has gone to the extreme and has created the chocolates themselves, so to speak.

That’s something we can all agree on.
We think that, while the idea of someone making chocolate for you is great, it is a little too much, especially when you consider that the chocolate will be made by the same people who make chocolate for the rest of us.

There is a small community of people who are passionate about making chocolate, and they are not averse to selling it to those people who want it. So you can make chocolate for yourself, your family, friends, and loved ones, but the majority of the time, you would be getting the chocolate made by the same people who make chocolate for the rest of us.
