Hand care is something that we all take for granted. We don’t think about it as much as we do our hair or clean our house. Yet, this is arguably the most important aspect of our personal care routine.
Hand care is a huge part of our daily routine whether we’re in a professional setting or on a day off. If we ignore it, our hands will become incredibly dry, we’ll look like death’s walking among us, and we’ll find ourselves scratching our skin when we shouldnt be.
In the video above, you can see a hand care routine that involves using a special wipe on your hands to maintain them from drying out and eventually breaking. I have included a link below to the video if you want to see more hand care videos.
Even though I try to take care of my hands as much as I can, I have no doubt that a lot of you have a similar habit. You need to take care of your hands and you need to take care of your skin. You need to take care of the things that make you vulnerable to germs and bacteria and the things that make you break easily, too, and well, you need to care for those things.
I have been known to spend more time on my hands than I do on my feet. I mean I spent most of my time doing my job and then I spent all of my time doing laundry and grocery shopping. So while I do like to put my hands in the dirt and I do like to wash my hands often, I don’t like to spend all of my time doing the same thing as most of you. I like to spend my time with good, clean, well-organized surfaces.
If you do like to spend your time on your hands, then its time for you to learn how to properly wash your hands. That might sound like a lot, but actually you only need to do this once per month. A lot of people find that the one time they need to use some kind of hand soap, or even just wash their hands, their hands get stained, dirty, gross, and disgusting. The first thing you need to do is get your hands wet.
This is actually a really common concern amongst home improvement clients. The reason I have a lot of clients that I refer to as “dummies” is because they wash their hands with water and use soap and wash them in their sink and then they end up looking gross. I have never had a client with this problem because they all seem to wash their hands when it’s not even necessary.
The point is to wash your hands. A lot of people assume that if you don’t put soap on your hands (which is a really bad idea) the skin’s oils will cause infections. But you don’t have to do that. All you need to do is wash them with warm water, and then rinse them off. You can put a little bit of liquid soap on your hands and wash them with your fingers.
I’m not a fan of the idea of washing your hands to remove oils. I just don’t know about the science. But I don’t see why it would be any worse that using soap. It’s not like people are picking at your skin.
Thats what I said about the soap, but there are times where you shouldnt even be washing your hands. Just because they look clean doesnt mean that thats what you will have on your hands. Just because you dont see any obvious signs of infection that doesnt mean that its not something that you will have.
